A former Lifecare trust manager will appear in court next month on fraud and deception charges involving hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Walter James Hurley, who was manager of sub-contracted services, will appear at Guildford crown court on 13 January with co-defendant Gordon Baggs, owner of Eastry Nursing Home, Kent.
He will face a number of charges of false accounting, fraud and attempted fraud. Mr Baggs is charged with conspiracy to steal monies from Lifecare trust.
The charges relate to allegations that Mr Hurley obtained nearly£400,000 between 1989 and 1998 by defrauding Lifecare clients and tricked the Department of Social Security out of£374,000.
Police were called to investigate 'apparent financial irregularities' at the trust, in Caterham, last year.
In December chair Frank Birch resigned. Chief executive Ian Semple and finance director David Healey later resigned. The trust stressed that none was directly involved in the police inquiry.
