Future doctors could qualify with BA degrees as part of a drive to promote the role of the arts in medicine. Health minister Baroness Jay is to meet the Nuffield Trust to discuss the introduction of the arts into medical education after Nuffield research showed that studying the arts helped students to develop a more compassionate understanding of people as well as becoming more 'rounded' themselves.
