Getting the message across: campaigners fighting to save Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton, and Atkinson Morley Hospital took their protest to the Department of Health last week, with a petition to health secretary Frank Dobson. Plans to transfer acute services away from Queen Mary's - part of a package of measures to tackle Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth health authority's pounds23.2m deficit (earlier projected at pounds24.7m) - were sanctioned by Sir Leslie Turnberg's review of London's health services. The review also recommended that services between Atkinson Morley and St George's Hospital in Tooting be rationalised.
