Your report (news focus, pages 12-13, 12 August) gives a fairly accurate picture of how the National Assembly for Wales is tackling health issues with vigour and vitality.

Our relationships with health and social services secretary Jane Hutt and with health and social services committee chair Kirsty Williams have been extremely fruitful: both are obviously keen to listen and understand our opinions, as are the assembly members of all parties that we have spoken to in recent months.

With tough decisions waiting to be made, the British Medical Association Cymru/Wales hopes robust lines of communications will remain firmly in place and that the open alliance flourishes. There is a strong will to improve health in Wales: a partnership approach seems the best way forward.
