The Royal College of GPs has criticised the introduction of NHS polyclinics proposed by junior health minister Lord Darzi as part of his vision for the future of the NHS.

Publishing a'roadmap'on the future direction of general practice, the college cautioned against the development of polyclinics that focus'purely on disease and technical care'.

The roadmap instead proposes a federated model for general practice with GPs working together as a legal entity, sharing staff and resources but remaining in separation locations.
