The government has launched a new campaign to protect NHS staff from harassment by patients. The Department of Health is issuing guidance to NHS employers, ending what it describes as the 'it goes with the job'mentality within the service. It outlines strategies for preventing harassment, legal issues as well as recording and monitoring harassment and performance management.Health minister John Hutton said: 'Staff must be fairly treated and supported and know that their complaints will be taken seriously by employers.'The new campaign follows the government's NHS zero tolerance zone launched in 1999 to stamp out violence against staff.
