Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives: a cross-government strategy for England was launched in February. In the same month, NHS North West launched the North West framework, which sets out guidelines on helping children and families achieve a healthy weight.

The government has stated its ambition to be the "first major country to reverse the rising tide of obesity and overweight in the population by ensuring that all individuals are able to maintain a healthy weight".

CSIP North West is contributing to the national agenda by developing and delivering a commissioning framework and tools for primary care and local authority commissioners.

An online resource will be available in June, with a revised version completed and launched in September in time to support commissioners when they respond to the new national child measurement programme. More about the national child measurement programme is available from www.dh.gov.uk
