Junior health minister Lord Hunt has announced that AEA Technology has been awarded the contract to establish the national joint registry for hip and knee replacements.Bill Darling, a former chair of the National Association of Health Authorities and Trusts, and Paul Gregg, president-elect of the British Orthopaedic Association, have been appointed chair and vice chair of the registry's steering committee.The registry will collect information on hip and knee implants to provide evidence of their long-term effectiveness.
