10.29am: The “right to provide” scheme for setting up new social enterprise “spin outs” has underwhelmed NHS staff, HSJ reveals. The policy was launched in March 2011 as a way of giving staff more control over the services they provide. Nineteen are currently under development across the entire NHS - that’s less than half the number set up during the transforming community services programme of 2010-11. And, while around 50 per cent of the TCS social enterprises were entire primary care trust provider arms, the new organisations look much smaller.
