Peter Scott has been appointed director of finance for North Cumbria Acute Hospitals trust and will also be the deputy chief executive.
Mr Scott has worked in the NHS since 1974 and has held various senior finance posts since 1992.His previous post was director of finance and performance for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear strategic health authority.
Maureen Parsons is the new northern regional director for Macmillan Cancer Relief. She was previously head of service development.
Before joining Macmillan in 1998, Ms Parsons was a cardio-respiratory nurse. She will be working with 900 health professionals and more than 80 staff, hoping to raise£6.5m this year .
Sir William Wells has been reappointed chair of the NHS Appointments Commission for a further four years.
Sir William has chaired the commission since it was established in April 2001.He has been a member of various hospital boards and health authorities for over 35 years.
Nick Moberly has begun work as the new director of strategic development at King's College Hospital.He was a freelance senior strategy consultant before taking the post.He has worked for several leading management consultancies and spent six years with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Senior nurse and clinical nurse specialist Tracey Reed and rheumatology consultant Dr Joel David have been appointed joint clinical directors of medicine at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.Dr David is responsible for medical staff and Ms Reed deals with governance issues, while day-to-day clinical management is a joint responsibility.
Robert Kendall, president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists from 1996 to1999, has died aged 67.He was internationally renowned for his work on the diagnosis and classification of psychiatric illness and emphasised the uncertainties of labelling mental illness, especially personality disorder.Mr Kendall died of a brain tumour in December.He leaves a wife, Ann, and four children.
