Maggie Wheeler has taken up post as the new chair of Norfolk Mental Health Care trust.Ms Wheeler has extensive experience in health and social care, having previously worked for Norfolk social services. She is now a self-employed training and research consultant.

Simon Pleydell is returning to South Tees Hospitals trust as chief executive.He was formerly director of planning at the trust but left in 1997 to join East Yorkshire Hospitals trust as chief executive.He is currently chief executive at York Health Services trust.

Cardiff and Vale trust has named Simon Jones as chair.He was previously chair of Bro Taf health authority and is a former member of South Glamorgan health authority.Mr Jones replaces David Durham, whose term of office as trust chair finished at the end of March.

Anne Spaight, head of operations at Sue Ryder Care, has become the first woman and the first physiotherapist and non-doctor to be appointed chair of the disability living allowance advisory board in the body's 12-year history.Ms Spaight has been a member of the board for six years and deputy chair for three.She will fulfil her role on the board in addition to her work at Sue Ryder Care South Manchester University Hospitals trust has appointed Lindsay Tolland as executive director of finance and planning.Mr Tolland is currently director of finance and information services at Ayrshire and Arran Acute Hospitals trust.He will take up his post in June.Prior to joining the NHS in 1991, he worked for Scottish Hydro-Electric and Ernst and Young.

Chesterfield primary care trust has appointed two new non-executive directors to its board.Elizabeth Caines has worked as a teacher and youth worker and has considerable experience of local organisations.Hilary Cave is a member of the Derbyshire unemployed workers' centre management committee and is a co-opted member of a local community forum, and takes a role in improving access to health services.
