Caroline Clarke has taken up post as director of finance at Homerton University Hospital trust.

She joins from City and Hackney primary care trust, where she was director of finance for two years. She has previously worked in finance at Royal Brompton and Harefield trust and Camden and Islington health authority.

Bryan Carpenter has been appointed to Kent and Medway strategic health authority as director of workforce development and human resources strategy.Mr Carpenter joins from Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, an 846-bed flagship hospital in South Africa, where he was chief executive.

From September Veronica Marsden will be chief executive of North East Oxfordshire primary care trust.She is currently chief executive of West Cumbria PCT.Ms Marsden started her career as a nurse.She later trained as a midwife and district nurse before moving into management 10 years ago.

Barking Havering and Redbridge Hospitals trust has appointed Mark Rees as chief executive.Mr Rees is an experienced NHS leader and has held chief executive posts in London for the past 15 years in a range of organisations.Most recently he was chief executive of Bromley Hospitals trust.

Conwy and Denbighshire trust has appointed Mark Sykes to the post of director of human resources while Mike Goodwin becomes director of capital developments and major projects.He joins from Wolverhampton University, where he had a similar role.Mr Sykes was previously director of organisational development for a large housing group in Walsall.Former assistant director of finance at Wirral Hospitals trust David Jago has been appointed deputy director of finance.

From 1 September Benet Middleton will take up post as acting director of charity Diabetes UK.He will be in post for 12 months while a permanent replacement for Paul Streets is recruited.

With effect from 1 July 2003 East Kent Community trust has been renamed East Kent NHS and Social Care Partnership trust.
