John de Braux has been appointed chief executiveof Epsom and St Helier trust.He joined the trust on temporary secondment from West Middlesex University Hospital trust.

His permanent appointment follows Epsom and St Helier's two-star rating in this year's figures.

Last year, it received no stars.

Alan Hodgkinson is to be chief executive of South Liverpool primary care trust.He takes up the post next month.He has held senior positions in BUPA health services and has been chief executive of the States of Guernsey board of health.

The Mental Health Foundation has named Dr Andrew McCulloch as its next chief executive.Dr McCulloch has been director of policy at the Sainsbury centre for mental health for six years.He was also a civil servant at the Department of Health for 16 years.Current chief executive Ruth Lesirge is to leave the foundation at the end of the month.

Mendip primary care trust has appointed Dr Caroline Gamlin as its first director of public health.She was formerly a public health consultant with Somerset health authority, responsible for children and families.

Dr David Davies has been made public health director at Somerset Coast primary care trust.He was formerly public health consultant with Somerset health authority.

Preston primary care trust has named its new management team:

chief executive Jan Hewitt, clinical services director Gina Ashworth, finance director Tim Boxer, HR director Therese Harvey, modernisation director Doreen Hounslea, primary care director Susan Rigg, public health director Maggi Morris.

Richard Bourne has been appointed a non-executive director of Essex Rivers Healthcare trust.Mr Bourne is a self-employed consultant for a partnership working on cultural change and business transformation in the public sector.He took up his appointment last month.
