Kate Harmond, clinical director at the Modernisation Agency, is to join East Sussex Hospitals trust as director of service development and modernisation. She will continue to work for the Modernisation Agency on a part-time basis. In her new role, she will help staff to develop innovative wholesystems practices and services to meet the needs of patients as set out in the NHS plan.
Alan Meekings is to play a key role in reshaping the Audit Commission.Mr Meekings, who is currently chief executive of District Audit, will become director of operations and oversee the integration of District Audit with the commission's inspection service.
East Sussex Hospitals trust, which was formed in a recent merger, has appointed Monica Green human resources director, David Townsley director of finance and performance, Dr Hugh McIntyre and Dr David Scott joint medical directors and Charles Ellis director of service planning.Ms Green was director of personnel at Eastbourne Hospitals trust.She will lead and develop the trust's recruitment, retention and employee relations strategies.Mr Townsley was director of finance at Hastings and Rother trust.He will be responsible for ensuring that the trust operates within budget and for monitoring the performance of the organisation.
Dr McIntyre was clinical director of medicine at the trust and will lead on strategy.Dr Scott was medical director at Hastings and Rother trust and will lead on risk management and clinical governance.Mr Ellis was director of corporate development and facilities at Hastings and Rother trust.
Directors have been appointed to key posts within the Audit Commission.Peter Wilkinson has been confirmed in post as director of health, a role he took up in July last year.He will lead the commission's new strategy on the NHS, and also develop work on following users across the traditional management boundaries of health and social care.Clive Grace, chief executive of Torfaen county council, will become director of the Audit Commission in Wales.He will take responsibility for the commission's audit, inspection and national studies work in Wales and work closely with the Welsh Assembly, NHS organisations and other public bodies.
