Sue Ellen has been appointed chair of West Middlesex University Hospital trust. She is currently managing director of United Racecourses, but has extensive experience of the health service, having worked in the NHS for seven years before joining BUPA.Ms Ellen replaces Jane Kelly, who left the trust to become chair of North West London strategic health authority.

Alison Guy has joined Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Health Care trust as chief executive, replacing Bob Crawford, who retired at the end of August after nine years in post.She was formerly acting chief executive of Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals trust.

Andreana Adamson has been appointed chief executive of the State Hospital in Scotland.This follows the decision of Gordon Melrose to return to Forth Valley primary care trust on the completion of his secondment to the hospital.Ms Adamson is strategic planning and performance review director and deputy chief executive of Lothian PCT and is likely to take up her new post in December.

Peter Farmer and Professor Michael Worton have both been reappointed as non-executive directors of the Whittington Hospital trust.Mr Farmer, who is also vice-chair of the trust, is a former managing partner of the consulting services division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in central Europe.He has been a board member of various NHS bodies since 1990.Michael Worton is professor of French, dean of the faculty of arts and a vice-provost of University College, London.One of his main areas of research is 'medicine and literature.'

Barry Capon has been appointed as a non-executive director of Norfolk Mental Health Care trust.He was chief executive of Norfolk county council for many years before his retirement in the mid-1990s.He is deputy lieutenant of Norfolk and holds other public appointments.Mr Capon also chaired Anglian Harbours trust for the year leading up to the transfer of its services to Norfolk Mental Health Care trust.
