Nick Carver has joined East and North Hertfordshire trust as chief executive.

Mr Carver, who is currently chief executive of George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton, will take up post next month.

He began his NHS career as a porter, before training to be a nurse.He has held senior posts in Gloucester, Swansea and Bath.

Sheila Foley has been appointed chief executive of East London and the City Mental Health trust.

She will take up her new post in November. Currently mental health adviser with the prison health task force, Ms Foley was previously chief executive of Rampton Hospital authority.

Diana Whitworth, chief executive of Carers UK, and Andy McKeon, director of policy and planning at the Department of Health, have been appointed, respectively, chair and deputy chair of the external reference group developing the new national service framework for long-term conditions.

Paul Warsop is to be chair of North Stoke primary care trust.Mr Worsop succeeds Brenda McGough as chair of the board.She has been with the trust since its inception as a primary care group in 1998.

Claire Nangle has been appointed as a non-executive director of Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals trust.Ms Nangle, a Labour councillor on Manchester city council since 1991, has been appointed until 2006.

Four new directors are to join the management team of Sunderland Teaching primary care trust.Chris Macklin will be director of finance and information; Bev Atkinson has been appointed director of nursing;

Judy Thomas will be director of public health; and Vicki Taylor will be director of human resources.

Sutton and Merton primary care trust has appointed Andrew Seddon as director of finance and commissioning.Mr Seddon has held finance director posts in the financial services sector.This is his first position in the NHS.
