Steve Graham OBE has been appointed director of operations at the Commission for Health Improvement with responsibility for ensuring the clinical governance review programme is delivered on time. Until recently he was in charge of the Royal Navy base at Portsmouth.
Harry Hayer has been appointed director of human resources at the Commission for Health Improvement. He has worked in the NHS for 11 years, most recently as HR director and lead manager for cancer services at Addenbrooke's trust.
Gwyn Bevan has taken up a secondment as director of research and information at the Commission for Health Improvement from his post as reader in policy analysis at the London School of Economics. He was a member of the team which reported on the financial management of the NHS to the 1978 Royal Commission on the NHS.

John Dennis has spent the past five years as an independent management consultant, including work with Kent and Canterbury Hospital in the wake of problems with its cervical screening service. Steve Collins joins from the Department of Health where he was a civil servant and ministerial private secretary, having worked on waiting-list initiatives and the Alder Hey inquiry.
Jon Crockett has taken up the post of chief executive of Wolverhampton health authority having been deputy chief executive and director of finance. He joined the NHS in 1985 as chief internal auditor.
Tony Halsall has been appointed director of nursing and patient services at Wigan and Leigh Health Services trust. He was formerly director of nursing and midwifery at Stockport trust.
Talib Yaseen has taken up the post of acting director of nursing for the NHS Executive North West region. He was previously director of nursing and midwifery at Morecambe Bay Hospitals trust.
