Elaine Inglesby has been appointed director of nursing and midwifery for Stockport trust. Ms Inglesby was formerly director of nursing and hospital services at the Walton Centre for neurology and neurosurgery trust. She replaces Tony Halsall.

Helen Walley has been appointed chief executive of South West London Community trust after seven months as its joint chief executive.

Di Caulfeild-Stoker replaces her as director of clinical services, primary care and nursing.

Maggie MacIsaac has been appointed chief executive of West Surrey health authority, taking over from Jenny Griffiths in June. Ms MacIsaac is currently the project director at Southampton and South West Hampshire health authority.

Tom Easterling has become chief executive of Redbridge primary care trust. He was chief executive of West Haringey primary care group.

Bill MacIntyre has been appointed chief executive of the newly formed Hertfordshire Partnership trust for mental health services, specialist learning disability services and child health services across the county. He was chief executive of West Herts Community trust. Hattie Llewelyn-Davies will chair the new trust.

Gwynneth Flower, vice-chair and director of Charteris, Mackie and Baillie, is to be new chair of UK Transplant. She succeeds John Shaw, who was chair from 1998.

Alyson Smith, senior nurse in public health at Buckinghamshire health authority, has been promoted to nurse consultant in public health. The post is one of a newly created top grade for nurses.

Gloria Oates, chief executive of Oldham trust, has been chosen by royal appointment to become High Sheriff for Lancashire.

Mrs Oates, who was awarded the OBE for services to health in 2000, will be sworn into the office on 10 April.
