Derek Hathaway has been appointed chief executive of Greater Derby primary care trust. He was formerly chief executive of Oldham East primary care group and had worked both in the private sector as well as holding several management posts in the NHS.
Roy Greenhalgh East Surrey health authority chief executive, has taken up a twoyear secondment at the South East Regional Office of the NHS Executive on the eve of new partnership arrangements between East Surrey HA and West Sussex HA.
Following Roy Greenhalgh's secondment (above), the new partnership arrangements being pioneered by East Surrey and West Sussex health authorities will mean that Candy Morris, chief executive at West Sussex, also assumes the role of chief executive of East Surrey. A deputy chief executive has been designated for each HA. Sheila Hayes, formerly director of specialist commissioning for Kent, Surrey and Sussex, will fulfil the role with East Surrey and Derek Harvey, previously director of finance, information and performance, takes up the post at West Sussex.
Mersey Regional Ambulance Service has appointed Sarah Jones as communications manager. She formerly worked as a journalist for Chronicle Newspapers in Cheshire before moving into public relations.
The National Cancer Research Institute has appointed Dr Liam O'Toole as its administrative director. Dr O'Toole is joining the newly formed body on secondment from the Medical Research Council.
Former vice-chair of Swansea NHS trust, Michael Williams, has taken on the role of chair, replacing John Button, who has retired.
