The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health has appointed Dr Andrew McCulloch as its head of policy, from October 2001.He has been a senior adviser at the centre for the last five years, and was a senior civil servant with responsibility for mental health policy at the Department of Health from 1992-6.

Barrie Brown has been appointed head of labour relations for the Community Practitioners'and Health Visitors'Association section of the MSF union.He was previously London regional officer with responsibility for primary care.He replaces Roger Kline, who left earlier this year to work for the British Airline Pilots Association.

New chief executives have been appointed to the three primary care trusts in North Cumbria health authority.Graham Ogden is chief executive of Carlisle & District PCT, having been chief executive of Salford East Primary Care Group.Peter Kohn is chief executive of Eden Valley PCT, having previously been involved in the creation of Greenwich Integrated Child Health Services, the children's service in West Hertfordshire and Cotswolds PCG.Veronica Marsden is West Cumbria PCT chief executive, having previously been acting chief executive of Greater Derby PCT.

Kathleen Mannion has been appointed midwifery officer for the Northern Local Supervising Authority Consortia, based at Newcastle and North Tyneside health authority.She has responsibility for the region's 2,500 midwives, and was clinical midwifery manager in West Lothian.

Michael Parker has been re-appointed non-executive director of Guy's and St Thomas'Hospital trust until October 2005.He is vice-chair of the trust board.

Camden and Islington Community Health Services trust has announced the appointment of two non-executive directors, until 31 October 2002.Dr David Metz is visiting professor at the Centre for Ageing and Public Health, at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and Randal Keynes worked for the Health Service Ombudsman in the 1990s.
