Toni Letts will become chair of Croydon health authority on 1 April.

She has worked for Croydon YMCA Housing Association since 1989 and is currently its chief executive.

Cynthia Bower, director of primary care for Birmingham health authority, has been appointed chief executive of the new Birmingham Specialist Community Health trust.

Paul Taylor has been appointed finance director of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals trust. He is director of finance for Coventry health authority, a post he has held since 1992.He has also been finance director for the merger project leading to the formation of the new organisation.

Antony Gardner has been appointed director of mental health services for Swindon and Wiltshire and will take up his new post on 1 May. Wiltshire health authority, Wiltshire county council and Swindon borough council have decided to bring health and social services together in a single organisation, creating the new post.

Dilara Kler, head of special educational needs at Slough Education Department, has been appointed a non-executive director of University College London Hospitals trust.

East Berkshire trust has a new non-executive director, Pritpal Singh, a west London comprehensive school headteacher. Terry Quadling has been reappointed a non-executive director of the same trust.

Barts and the London trust has a new non-executive director: Anthony Caplin, a businessman and former chair of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal in the UK.

Ruth Harrison has been appointed chief executive of the new acute trust in Worcestershire. She is currently chief executive of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital in Oswestry, but for the past year she has been project director for the merger of three trusts to form Worcestershire Acute Hospitals trust.
