Melvyn Ellis will be leaving Herefordshire health authority at the end of October to become chief executive of South Staffordshire health authority. Mr Ellis has worked in Herefordshire for almost five years and seen through a number of developments, including a new hospital for Hereford.

John Garlick, chair of Redbridge Health Care trust, has been appointed chair of the new North East London Mental Health trust. Christine Suett and Ron Jeffries have been named non-executive directors.

Dr Ruth Caudwell has become medical director of Tower Hamlets Healthcare trust. She is a consultant community paediatrician and has worked in Tower Hamlets for nine years. The trust also has a new head of maternity services - Mai Buckley, formerly senior midwife at the Whittington Hospital.

Leeds Community and Mental Health Services Teaching trust has appointed Jane Westmoreland as head of communications. She was a senior consultant at Leeds communication agency BRAHM.

North West Anglia Healthcare trust has a new chair - David Lankester, a non-executive director of the trust since its was formed in 1993, and acting chair since the departure of Marco Cereste earlier this year.

Brent, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster Mental Health trust has a new non-executive director. Dr Dorothy Griffiths has been appointed as the university-nominated non-executive director. She is senior lecturer and head of the organisational behaviour and human resource management section of the management school at Imperial College.

Redbridge and Waltham Forest health authority also has a new non-executive director - Ruth Darling, a senior commissioning officer for East London and City HA.

Alison Forbes, former head of media at the King's Fund, has become chief executive of the Hoffman de Visme Foundation, which runs residential homes for people with autism and Asperger's syndrome, as well as a counselling service.

Malcolm Stamp, chief executive of Norfolk and Norwich Health Care trust, has been awarded an honorary degree. Mr Stamp has been made a doctor of civil law by the University of East Anglia 'in recognition of his substantial support for the university's successful medical school bid and for his activities in the school of health'.

Hilary Pepler has become chief executive of North East Wales trust, which was referred to as North Wales trust in In Person two weeks ago.
