Jackie Lythell, deputy leader of Brighton and Hove council, is the new vice-chair of South Downs Health trust. Ms Lythell, who chairs the trust's audit panel, replaces Jenny Langston, whose seven-year appointment as a non-executive director came to an end last year.

Dr Chris Perring, director of Trent and Yorkshire Mind, has become a non-executive director of Community Health Sheffield trust.

Kingston and District Community trust has three new non-executive directors. They are Loraine Monk, a sociology lecturer, former Labour councillor and former member of Esher community health council, Helen Page, a management consultant, and James Hutchings, general manager of a charity providing employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities, and a former Conservative councillor.

A new non-executive director has been appointed for Mount Vernon and Watford Hospitals trust - Dr David Solomon, who worked for almost 20 years as a dental surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Colindale Hospital.

Judith Brodie has joined CancerBACUP as head of its cancer support service. She formerly worked for Age Concern London, where she was policy and communications manager.

The Wellcome Trust will have a new chair at the end of this year. Sir Dominic Cadbury, chair of Cadbury Schweppes, will take over from Sir Roger Gibbs, who has chaired the organisation since 1989.
