John Dean has retired as director of planning for Medway trust in Kent, having been project director for the £60m re-development of Medway Maritime Hospital, which was recently handed over. He worked in the NHS for more than 27 years.

Lucy Moore has been appointed as director of clinical services for Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals trust. She is currently deputy chief executive/director of public health for Redbridge and Waltham Forest health authority. The trust has also appointed David Evans as director of human resources. He is currently director of operations for the outsourced personnel services for the contributions agency of the Department of Social Security and human resources project manager for Bury and Rochdale health authority.

Evelyn Keane, a qualified nurse who retired two years ago as an executive director of Mid Cheshire Hospitals trust, has become a non-executive director of South Cheshire health authority.

Judith Corcho, a marketing consultant, has been appointed as a non-executive director of East Sussex, Brighton and Hove health authority.

Phillip Badham, a self-employed businessman, and Beryl Melvin, a former nursing officer at the Welsh Office, have become non-executive directors of Gwent Healthcare trust.

Sandy Leitch, chief executive of Zurich Financial Services in the UK, has become chair of Sane, the mental health charity.
