Bronwen Davies, chief executive of Aylesbury Vale Healthcare trust, has decided to give up her post following the death of her son Rhys, 27, in an accident at the end of July. The trust said it had accepted her resignation with regret.

Tony Woods has left his post as clinical effectiveness manager at North Mersey Community trust to become quality facilitation group co-ordinator at Liverpool health authority. The new post is to support quality improvement among primary care groups.

Paul Bennett has become primary care development and commissioning director at Westway PCG. He was formerly project manager at St Mary's trust in Paddington.

Sarah Holmes has been appointed to the new job of alliance development manager at NHS Direct in Bolton, to forge links with professionals and inform the public about the service.

Margaret Davis, a former chief nursing officer at Guy's Hospital, has been re-appointed as a non-executive director of Invicta Community Care trust. Roseanne Corben, a former member of South East Thames regional health authority, has been appointed to the trust's board.

Bedford Hospital trust has re-appointed non-executive director Dr Robert Main, a former GP and medical officer for an independent school.

South Downs Health trust has also seen a non-executive director reappointed - Linda Seymour, a research officer in health and social policy at Brighton University.

Jeremy Fraser, former leader of Southwark council, has become a non- executive director of the newly formed Community Health South London trust. Sally Hawkins, a former director of the UK Council on Deafness, has also joined the trust board.

Mount Vernon Hospital has a new chaplain - George Cobb, who has been parish rector of Alresford near Colchester for 10 years.

Nicholas Ward has become chair of national charity the British Liver Trust. He was chair of NHS Supplies for three years until 1998.
