Dr Chris Burke has become chief executive of Stockport Acute Services trust.

He has worked in the NHS for 22 years and was formerly the trust's deputy chief executive and director of corporate strategy.

Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospital trust, has appointed John MacDonald as its new chief executive. For the past three years, he has been chief executive of Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals trust.

Caroline Walker has become director of finance at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children trust. She was previously deputy director of finance at Barts and the London trust.

Trish Morris Thompson, process director for corporate and nursing development at Leicester Royal Infirmary trust, has been appointed director of nursing and midwifery at Birmingham Women's trust. She succeeds Wendy Morrison, who has been appointed assistant chief nurse at Northern and Yorkshire regional office.

Patricia Gregory has been reappointed chair of Kingston and District Community trust.

Mid Essex Hospital Services trust will have a new non-executive director on 1 December - Denis Franklin, a senior Bank of England official.

The United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting has appointed a registered midwife as director of professional conduct, the first time a midwife has held a director post. Liz McAnulty, a UKCC professional officer with responsibility for midwifery, will replace Mandie Lavin-Smith, who is taking up a post at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Jane Rennie has become Gwent health authority's director of performance development.

She was previously head of performance management at Suffolk health authority.
