Reg Rice has become chair of Haringey Healthcare trust, succeeding John Owens.

He is a Labour councillor who has twice been mayor of Haringey. Mr Rice has been a non-executive director of the trust since 1995.

Jonathon Davies, who has been acting chief executive of University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital trust for seven months, has been appointed as trust director of operations.

Bro Taf health authority has a new chair - Simon Jones, chief executive of Wales Co-operative Centre and formerly vice chair of the HA.

North Mersey Community trust has a new non-executive director - Brian Case, a retired chartered accountant.

Richard Velleman, director of research and development for Avon and Western Wiltshire Mental Health Care trust, has also become professor of mental health research at Bath Unversity.

The National Osteoporosis Society has a new health services liason manager. He is Tim Melville, formerly contracts manager at Dyfed Powys HA.

Professor Trevor Sheldon is to be the new head of the department of health studies at York University from 1 December. He was the founding director of the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination, established in 1984, which he headed until April 1998.

Phil White has recently joined the BBC as a procurement specialist. He was previously assistant director, supplies and distribution, at Royal Free Hampstead trust.

Neil Konieczny has been appointed director of finance at the newly formed East Midlands Ambulance Service trust. He was previously finance director of Nottinghamshire Ambulance Service trust.
