Tony McLean has succeeded Sally Gorham as chief executive of Essex and Herts Community trust. Ms Gorham, who had held the post since 1995, is now chief executive of Harlow primary care group. Mr McLean, a qualified nurse, was deputy chief executive of Allington trust, Ipswich, where he oversaw the assimilation of Anglian Harbours trust and a merger with two other trusts.

Joyce Brittain has been re-appointed as chair of the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool.

Christine Jackson, a personnel consultant and former head of research and policy at the Equal Opportunities Commission in Manchester, has become chair of Wrightington Hospital trust.

Ruth Winterbottom, a former police superintendent with Lancashire police, became chair of Lancashire Ambulance Service trust last month.

Lucinda Bolton has become chair of Riverside Community Health Care trust, succeeding Moira Black. Ms Bolton, a financial consultant, has been a non-executive director of the trust for two years and chair of the audit committee.

Nottingham Healthcare trust has a new chair - Gordon Lammie, regional director of the Open University in the East Midlands and former non-executive director of Nottingham Community Health trust.

Daphne Barnett has been re-appointed as a non-executive director of Greenwich Healthcare trust.

She recently retired after a 30-year career with Lewisham social services.

Dr Alan Ruben, a Brixton GP for 35 years and retired dean of postgraduate general practice education for South Thames, has become a non-executive director of Community Health South London trust.

Jane Evatt, a solicitor, has been re-appointed as a non-executive director of Kent Ambulance trust.

Bob Scruton, a retired chartered accountant, is joining the trust as a non-executive director.

Calderdale and Kirklees health authority also has a new non-executive director - Natalie Pinnock Hamilton, an active voluntary worker.

Gloucestershire Ambulance Service trust has two new non-executive directors - Jenny Lawrence, a nursing consultant, and Linda Taylor, a management consultant.

Local Health Partnerships trust in Suffolk also has two new non-executive directors - Dr Jean Macheath, a chiropodist, and Roy Thompson, a computer systems consultant.
