Parkside Health trust has appointed Michael Attwood (above) operations director with responsibility for services in Brent. He joins from Pathfinder trust, where he was manager of specialist mental health services.

Diana Forrest moves from Liverpool health authority, where she was a public health consultant, to St Helens and Knowsley HA, where she becomes public health director.

Lambeth Healthcare trust has a new chair. Management consultant Suhail Aziz has experience of management, economics and community relations, having worked for multi-national companies, international aid agencies and the voluntary sector.

Lois Louden, a retired university lecturer who has been a non-executive director of Lancashire Ambulance Service trust since its formation, has been appointed trust chair.

Middlesbrough Labour councillor Michael Carr has been appointed non- executive director of South Tees Community and Mental Health trust. Mr Carr is a self-employed planning adviser. Also at South Tees, management consultant David Becker has been re-appointed as a non-executive.

Two non-executives join Dorset Healthcare trust: Jane James and Moira Coath. A former teacher and member of East Dorset community health council, Ms James is a Poole borough councillor. Ms Coath trained as a solicitor but retired from full-time employment in 1993 to concentrate on family and business interests.

Marc Winslet has been appointed professor of surgery and head of the surgery department at the Royal Free Hospital school of medicine. Professor Winslet will take the chair and head the academic department. He trained at the Royal Free and returned there as a senior lecturer in 1992.

King's College London's centre for mental health services development has made three appointments: Valerie Howell has been appointed deputy director with specific responsibility for overseeing consultancy activity in England. She was formerly mental health and learning disability services director with Hounslow and Spelthorne Community and Mental Health trust. Bob Grove becomes director of the employment support unit. He was previously director of Richmond Fellowship Work Schemes. Geoff Hodgson joins the centre as events director from Pavilion Publishing, where he was conference manager.
