Tim Skelton will join Salisbury Health Care trust as chief executive next month. He is currently working on service reconfiguration with four hospitals in West Hertfordshire and was previously chief executive of St Albans and Hemel Hempstead trust.

Salisbury Health Care trust's chief executive, Christopher Mould, is taking up an 18-month appointment as programme director for strategic change in Wiltshire and Swindon.

The trust has also announced the retirement of director of patient services Derek Hayes. He has worked for the NHS for 30 years.

Robert Royce has been appointed director of contract services for Dyfed Powys health authority.

He was previously head of policy.

Major General Richard Keightley has been appointed chair of Dorset HA. He is currently chair of Dorset Health Care trust. Wilma Mulliner, who has chaired the authority since it was set up in 1996, is retiring.

Bradford HA has announced that non-executive director Joan Firth has been appointed as chair.

Dr Firth joined the Department of Health in 1967 and became under-secretary in 1980. Before retiring in 1995, she was deputy director of NHS finance. She replaces Zahida Manzoor, who left to become chair of Northern and Yorkshire region.

Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire Ambulance and Paramedic Service trust has announced that Paula Grayson, a private and public sector manager, has been appointed as a non-executive director.

The British Dental Association's new chair is Geoff Garnett. The BDA also elected a new chair for its central committee for hospital dental services. He is John Lowry , a consultant oral and maxillo-facial surgeon at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Mildmay Mission Hospital, the AIDS hospice, has appointed Barbara Dicks as director. She replaces Veronica Moss, who has moved to Uganda to head Mildmay's AIDS treatment and education centre.

Chris Ham has been reappointed director of Birmingham University's health services management centre. He has held the post since 1993.
