Your 'On the evidence' article (page 36, 1 March) is right to highlight the importance of providing patients with the information they need to participate in decision-making about their care. The authors so rightly point to the commitment in the NHS cancer plan to improving communication between health professionals and people with cancer.
The NHS cancer information strategy sets out cancer patients' entitlement to accurate, unbiassed and accessible information. To implement the strategy properly, ministers now need to commit the resources to cancer networks to allow them to meet the information needs of all patients.
