NHS Scotland infrastructure and equipment will receive a 12.7 per cent cash boost in the next financial year, taking capital investment to almost£310m.
Health minister Malcolm Chisholm outlined the detail of the capital allocations for 2003-04 on Tuesday.
As well as money for NHS boards, the minister announced specific packages for primary care premises (£13m), centrally funded IT projects for service redesign (£8.4m) and investment in cancer equipment and breast screening.
The allocation will increase by£40m or 12.9 per cent for 2004-05 and by 20 per cent or£70m the following year. A consultation document on patients' rights and responsibilities was also published.
