The government has said it will consult senior NHS managers on a new contract linking pay and performance 'later this year'.The new contract was promised a year ago. In the meantime, NHS chief executive Nigel Crisp has given three-star trusts increased performance-related pay.Other trusts, primary care groups and strategic health authorities have been asked to keep the overall pay rise for senior managers to 3.6 per cent of the current pay bill.But three-star trusts can make higher awards, providing they can be objectively justified.
