Plymouth Hospitals trust has accepted the resignation of deputy chief executive Martin Cusack with immediate effect.

Along with chief executive Arthur Wilson, Mr Cusack was suspended on full pay in May following an independent report into waiting-list management. Both had been on special leave since January. The trust has promised to make the report public once employment issues relating to Mr Wilson have been resolved.

In his letter to trust chair Russ Mitchell, Mr Cusack accepted that there had been a 'breakdown of trust' and it would be in both their best interests for him to seek employment elsewhere.
