A new£5m private sector mental health unit for NHS patients is to open this month under a unique public-private sector deal.Built using private cash, Farmfield, near Gatwick airport, will be used to care for up to 50 medium-risk patients with long-term mental illness.All will have been detained under the Mental Health Act.The owner of the land, Surrey Oakland trust, is leasing the site to Westminster Healthcare, which will provide all the care in the unit and pay the trust for services including estates management, maintenance, transport and training.
