The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health has launched a two-year project to improve services for black people.Breaking Circles of Fear aims to give black users of mental health services a stronger say in how services are run. It will support workers in offering better standards of care to black patients, provide learning opportunities about diversity and address the health inequalities that exist.Black workers in voluntary groups, the NHS and social services will receive leadership training. The project hopes to establish better communication between mental health services and black communities through 'gateway' agencies set up by black service users and community groups.
