Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals foundation trust has confirmed that it is being kept under close watch by Monitor.
The foundation trust regulator is scrutinising the trust's ability to clear 92 breaches of the six-month inpatient waiting list target after the issue was raised at its October board meeting. Monitor has not formally intervened.
A Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals trust spokesman said: 'We can confirm that we are working closely with Monitor to provide assurance that the review of our waiting list management and the implementation of the subsequent action plan have been effective.
'Through independent advisers, we are also in the process of providing assurance and addressing concerns raised by Monitor in relation to wider governance at the trust.'
At its October board meeting Monitor said that, 'given the scale and persistence of the waiting list breaches, the trust was likely to be in significant breach of its authorisation'.
The trust's patient advice and liaison service first raised concerns over the breaches with the board in the spring.
