The number of GP practices offering extended hours has reached 5,380 or 65 per cent of 8,263 practices. This is an increase from 58.9 per cent in October.

The average percentage of practices offering extended hours within each commissioner area (primary care trusts and commissioning care trusts) was 65.4 per cent, up from 59.1 per cent in October.

One commissioning area had no GP practices offering extended hours, the same number as in October. 84.2 per cent of commissioners have achieved the 2008-09 operating framework aim of 50 per cent of their GP practices offering extended hours, up from 73 per cent in October.
