A survey released by the British Medical Association claims that 42 per cent of people believe there has been no improvement in the NHS. Over a third, 34 per cent, said they thought the NHS had improved.

Around 60 per cent thought the NHS should be run by an independent board of governors, accountable to Parliament, and 70 per cent said decisions about local health services should by made by bodies elected by the local population.
