A private members'bill to bring private dentistry into line with other private health services and ensure it is regulated by the Care Standards Commission has been introduced to the Commons by Ann Clwyd.The Private Dental Practitioners'Bill is supported by the Consumers'Association, which has lobbied the government to extend the new regulatory arrangements for private care to dentists.If successful, the bill will mean the commission, due to be established next year, will set standards for private dentistry and give patients access to a formal statutory complaints procedure.
