An investigation into the value of public inquiries has been launched by MPs.The Commons public administration committee will hear from, among others, Professor Sir Ian Kennedy, chair of the Commission for Healthcare Inspection and Audit, who led the investigation into the deaths of babies at Bristol Royal Infirmary, and Lord Laming, who chaired the Climbié inquiry. The committee will examine whether the way in which terms of reference are set should be reconsidered and whether there should be greater parliamentary involvement. It will not seek to re-open previous inquiries.
