The Oxford Consortium - the former Anglia and Oxford region computer centre, sold to Computer Sciences Corporation in 1995 - has once again changed hands. It has been bought by the Welsh company Hyder.
Hyder refused to give any details of the operation's value or turnover, but the consortium employs 58 staff, all of whom have moved to Hyder.
It provides IT and consultancy services to 37 trusts in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire covering patient administration systems and financial management. It also runs the national breast screening system.
Hyder already supplies the IT infrastructure for the Welsh Health Common Services Authority, which provides IT services for most Welsh trusts. Now it says it intends to become 'a major managed services player in the health market' and is bidding for several PAS contracts with trusts in England and Wales.
