Health secretary Patricia Hewitt has unveiled a panel of 19 experts to help shape improved standards and greater choice for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The panel will sit on the COPD national service framework external reference group and will be jointly chaired by British Thoracic Society president Professor Peter Calverey and Department of Health chief scientific officer Professor Sue Hill.
