The Commission for Health Improvement has praised the work done by the new management team at Mid-Essex Hospital Services trust, but warned it needs to continue to address major concerns.A clinical governance review of the trust commends action to improve performance, and the establishment of infection-free zones.

But it says the trust needs to 'continue the work it is undertaking to find out why it has higher than average death rates for emergency patients', and to address the risks associated with having its paediatric and maternity services located in a hospital five miles from accident and emergency, intensive care and pathology services.
