A new medical director has been appointed to Great Yarmouth and Waveney PCT.
Dr James Wyllie, a GP in Great Yarmouth, said he would work with all the PCT’s clinical partners to ‘transform clinical services across the whole of the health system’.
He also promised to visit every practice in the PCT within his first eight months in post.
He said: “One of my priorities will be driving through further improvements to the quality of clinical services we offer – which is especially important in the current financial climate. I’m looking forward to working with all of our clinical partners to transform clinical services across the whole of the health system.”
Great Yarmouth and Waveney PCT sparked a row after deciding to ban non-NHS organisations from bidding to run its community services.
The decision followed then Health Secretary Andy Burnham’s comments that the NHS should be the ‘preferred provider’ of NHS services. The PCT’s actions prompted East of England SHA to instruct all PCTs in its region to halt their tendering process for community services.
