New figures show that one in three children aged 10-11 are overweight and London has the highest obesity prevalence in primary school aged children.

Department of Health statistics show that 80 per cent of school children have been measured, an increase of 32 per cent on last year.

The National Child Measurement Programme, established in 2005, checks children's height and weight to enable local health services to identify children who are, or who are at risk of, becoming overweight.
