The proportion of inpatients rating their hospital care as 'excellent' varies massively between the best and the worst trusts, a survey by the Healthcare Commission has found.

While 77 per cent of patients rated their care as "excellent" in the best-performing trust, only 24 per cent did in the lowest performing. The average was 42 per cent, up from 41 per cent in 2006.
