Stephen Moss has retired as acting chief executive of Queen's Medical Centre Nottingham University Hospital trust. He has worked at Queen's since 1984. His career includes a period as chair of the Nurse Directors' Association and commissioner for the Commission for Health Improvement.

Professor James Rafferty has been appointed director of Wessex Institute for Health Research and Development at Southampton University's school of medicine. He joins from his position as director of the Health Economics Facility at Birmingham University.

Dame Yve Buckland will leave her post of chair of the Health Development Agency at the end of March to join the Consumer Council for Water as chair designate.
