David Sharp has been appointed chief executive of Newark and Sherwood primary care trust.
Mr Sharp has held the role of acting chief executive since August 2003. He joined the PCT as director of finance in December 2000.
Vanessa Wood has been named chief executive of Mayday Healthcare trust.Ms Wood joined Mayday in April 2003 as deputy chief executive/director of operations.
She began her NHS career as a nurse.
Professor Elaine Murphy, chair of North East London strategic health authority, has been made a life peer. The doctor and academic has held a number of chairs in the NHS and was a general manager from 1984-90.
She will sit as a cross-bencher.
Lynne Simpson has been appointed by the London Health Observatory as its business manager.Ms Simpson joins from Barclays, where she was a project manager in business banking.
Sister Christine Lehair has been named as the new Macmillan palliative and supportive care chaplain, in the department of spiritual care, Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital trust. Sister Lehair is a Roman Catholic nun and has a nursing background.
NHSU, the corporate university for the NHS, has appointed three new regional directors and two lead regional directors. The regional directors are Brian Cox, East Midlands; June Lancaster, Yorkshire and Humberside; Richard Sugden, North West. The lead regional directors are Michael Ker in, London, and Sue Hodgetts, South.
