Peter Forrester has been appointed chief executive of Northamptonshire Heartlands primary care trust.He is currently chief executive of Wyre Forest PCT, which he led to a three-star rating in 2002-03.He will take up his new post in September.

Jennie Negus has been named deputy director of nursing at Homerton University Hospital trust.Ms Negus joined the trust in 2000 as lead nurse and became one of its first modern matrons.

More recently she was senior nurse for medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr Nick Summerton has been appointed medical director for Yorkshire Wolds and Coast primary care trust and reader in primary care medicine at Hull University. Dr Summerton, a regular HSJ contributor, will also continue work as a GP.

nIan Keeber has been named head of communications at Mayday Healthcare trust.He joins from Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals trust, where he was head of corporate communications.

nPaul Ennals has been appointed interim chair of the Children, Young People and Families Workforce Council for England.

Mr Ennals is currently chief executive of the National Children's Bureau.

nRoyal Free Hampstead trust has named Joe Smyth as general manager of its new cancer and clinical specialities division.He joins from Hammersmith Hospitals trust, where he commissioned Ravenscourt Park Hospital, one of the country's first treatment centres.

nMarie Smith has been appointed director of intellectual property for the NHS. She joins from Manchester Innovation, where she was chief executive.

nJim Elliott has been named head of research for charity Macmillan Cancer Relief.
